Paris Saint-Germain authorized Nordi Mukiele to head to England this Friday to finalize his arrival at Sunderland during the summer transfer window. An agreement in principle already exists between the various parties regarding the French full-back's recruitment by the newly promoted Premier League club. This is a permanent transfer.

Not in Luis Enrique 's plans this season, Nordi Mukiele will leave PSG very soon during the summer transfer window. The Parisian club has reached an agreement with Sunderland for the French full-back, who was already on loan at Leverkusen last year. An agreement in principle exists between the three parties for a permanent transfer estimated at around €12 million.

The 27-year-old defender has been given permission to travel to England to finalize his arrival at the Blackcats, who have been promoted to the Premier League.

Mukiele blocked by Hakimi at PSG

Having arrived at PSG from Leipzig in the summer of 2022, Nordi Mukiele has never managed to establish himself as an undisputed member of the Parisian squad. First under Christophe Galtier and then under Luis Enrique, the French international (1 cap) was content with limited playing time in Paris behind the irremovable Achraf Hakimi .

After making 25 appearances in all competitions in his first season in Paris, Nordi Mukiele saw his total number of matches increase to 20 in 2023-2024. On loan to Leverkusen last season, the 27-year-old defender made 24 appearances in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.

A beautiful French-speaking community in Sunderland

At Sunderland, promoted to the Premier League, Nordi Mukiele could find a large French-speaking community there. The club, chaired by Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and successfully managed by Régis Le Bris, has invested in numerous players who have come through Ligue 1 during the summer transfer window.

Before the potential arrival of Nordi Mukiele, the Blackcats have already secured the transfers of former Strasbourg player Habib Diarra, ex-Rennais Enzo Le Fée and full-backs who have played in France such as Reinildo (Lille) and Arthur Masuaku (Valenciennes).
