Real Madrid attempted to push for a winning goal late on in El Clasico, although one of their moves was controversial since Luis Suarez was injured on the ground at the time.
Sergio Ramos has confirmed that, based on knowing the Uruguayan, he wasn't going to put the ball out, a decision which didn't go down too well with the Camp Nou crowd.
"Knowing Luis Suarez, I made clear that we wouldn't put the ball out of play," he explained in his post-match press conference.
"We aren't here to educate anyone, I have enough with my three children at home.
"That's the referee's job.
"We wanted to win at that moment."
With the decision to play on clearly causing fury amongst the Blaugrana fans and players alike, the situation threatened to descend into chaos.
Jordi Alba launched himself into a challenge, whilst Paulinho was then incredibly aggressive when getting very close to the face of a rather bemused Lucas Vazquez.
"They haven't won the league because of referees, they have done extremely well and are deserved winners," he admitted.
Even Marcelo would then weigh in on the controversy surrounding Suarez's apparent injury, with the Brazilian equally unconvinced that the former Liverpool goal-scorer was actually in real distress.
"We knew that Suarez's injury wasn't serious," he confirmed.
"That's why we didn't put the ball out of play.
"Not because we didn't want to."
In the end, Real Madrid didn't get a third goal and the game finished 2-2.

Has Ramos forgotten that they stop that same ball for Asensio during the semi-final tie against Bayern at the die minutes even when the injury was not that serious???
Yeah you're right, James pulled the ball out of play. Against Bayern Asensio was stamped by Alaba and went down but Suarez threw himself at Ramos and ended up hurting his back. I think that's the difference.

You don't have to hold up play for time alone. It can be done to stop momentum as well
Yes i agree with that

U r right mate, suarez lying on the field while real madrid players went thru to play football without stopping did happen in the second half. And yes, people would understand that too, they played with 10 men and tryin not to risk anything,it was an understandable strategy, profesionalls would definitely understand that. And yes,i agree too that ramos and marcello’s tackle wasnt needed too, they r just professional trying to provoke and waitin if barca players react with that. I was just replying to the dude accusing real madrid players cheating,as an unbiased fan,as what i could see, thats not fair to say that. Suarez did cheat too even earlier in the game, and cheating here means he knows what he doin,he did it for profesional reason,to provoke reaction from opponents too. After all,it was a fair game i guess overall, both teams benefited from referee’s bad decisions so it kinda made it up for both parties. And big players from both teams like messi, ronaldo, bale and suarez showed it again that they are the man for big occasion. Great game, entertaining to watch.

Well, it's really curious how people would insinuate that Suarez would be trying to delay when an assured 45mins of play was coming in the second half. If I am not wrong, the antics of delay works more in the last minutes of the game, during second half; not in first half. And if Suarez is an experienced player, he would know that. And I think Ramos should have known that too. It's as simple as that. There was really no need for Ramos' challenge and Marcelo ran in to shove Suarez too...so unprofessional.

Delay antics can up from a player any time if that player discovered his team is on intensive pressure . It mustn't be at the second half or last moment of the match , for those who understands football.

Ramos is far better than Suarez because always stimulating something for the referee to give a penalty, yellow card and even red card. He's good on the ball and can score goals but he needs to change his attitude.
that's ur opinion as a madrid fan but entire world knows Suarez is the beast in forward.

Dude..what are u talking about mate. I mean, even we know suarez is a really good footballer, everyone knows his antics on the field, just 1 touch and he looked like he was dying instantly. It is undestandable that he was just looking to time wasting by faking injuries,it was clear nothing serious happened to him,so the madrid knowing him well, just continue with the play. And if u would want to use the word cheat,i guess it would suited much better on suarez before anyone else. Not to remind u too,the heat last night started up when suarez claiming to be elbowed by ramos, and caused a fight when ramos knew suarez just dived,so brought him up by force. After that incident;things got heated up between the two teams. However, great drama as usual on el classico, and it was a great entertaining match too.

I think that that's a very lame excuse from Ramos for provoking a fellow player on the pitch, knowing that tempers are already high both from the match build up and from earlier in the game. That's still the useless provocation Marcel used to get Roberto a red card. In all honesty, Madrid can do better than such provocative displays on the pitch. If you win, win convincingly; and if you lose, lose convincingly. Don't cheat. Practically all the big matches Madrid has played recently has been covered with such controversies.

U either don't understand English or banter or u don't understand what the very last statement means... Im neither a barca or Madrid fans... In fact I despise the inequality in Spanish football so don't @ me
It is just interesting how you pick out only the last sentence to make the assumption that the writer is a Barca fan. And yes, whether you are a fan of Barca or Madrid, when you comment on football do so with a mind to truth more than sentiments. The point at issue here is Madrid player's provocation of others on the pitch. And in this match, it was too obvious.
