The Real Madrid captain has the backing of the fans and his contract, which ends in 2021 and not in 2020 as is currently believed.
It has been a dark few days for Real Madrid. After having been knocked out of the Copa del Rey and Champions League and effectively put out of the running for LaLiga in the space of a week, reports of a fall out between captain Sergio Ramos and club president Florentino Peréz emerged on Thursday.
Tensions reportedly spilled over in the dressing room after Madrid’s humiliating defeat to Ajax on Tuesday, where an infuriated Peréz blasted the players for their lack of dedication and excessive time off, even calling their actions "disgraceful".
Ramos reportedly jumped to the defence of his team mates, accusing Peréz and his board’s poor planning as being the real cause of the the club's current woes. During the heated debate, Peréz is understood to have threatened to sack Ramos, to which the defender replied: “Pay me up and I’ll go”.
Ramos sacking would be a costly move
It is assumed of course that the Madrid president made an idle threat in the heat of the moment. But even if Peréz intended to sack Ramos, it would be a complicated move for the Madrid president. Aside from the certain backlash he would receive from fans for firing the team’s spiritual leader, AS has learned that the move would also be a costly one in financial terms, as Madrid would have to pay 25 million euros to buy him out of his current contract, which expires in 2021 and not 2020 as is currently believed.
The central defender renewed his contract until 2020 in the summer of 2015, following what was the last time Madrid finished a season without a trophy in 2014-15. Manchester United were pushing hard to sign him, but ultimately he signed a five-year deal at the Bernabéu after tense negotiations.
And just a few months ago, the club quietly added another year to his deal on the back of his good performance, which will keep the 32-year-old at the club until 2021, at which point he will be 34. As such, it is highly likely Ramos will be going anywhere, even if Peréz really wanted that to happen.

The Board of Real Madrid under Perez have little or no respect for mini institutions within the club. Perez so far has displayed the 'use and dumb mentality' for players and even coaches. For example, a player like Ronaldo is an institution that shouldn't be treated anyhow. Captain Sergio Ramos is another institution that doesn't deserve to be treated anyhow. There was also news of threat of sack of Zizzou before he won UCL and had to quit honourably. The fact is that a player like Ramos commands more respect amongst the fans and football lovers than Perez himself. I agree Perez has the right to feel angry and disappointed like every stakeholder over the recent poor performance of the club on all front, but he shouldn't have resorted to threat of sack of a player like Ramos in the heat of anger. Players deserve respect. They're not tissue paper that should be used and dumped. If Perez wants to compound Real Madrid problems, let him go ahead, pay Ramos off and then sack him. Very soon, he may have to collect jersey and start playing. #Ihateselfishandgreedypeople#.

I am a Barcelona fan and i hate ramos for his dirty tackles on messi and other players. But i respect Ramos because he is loyal to his club and his teammates. He is a true leader who always motivates others. He got into a fight with Mourinho about Casillas as well. In my opinion Perez should be sacked. He expected his team to win after he let their best player go and signed no one capable to score goals as replacement. He blames it on the team. He has disrespected others before, but Ramos is more powerful,if Ramos leaves all Real Madrid fans would turn against him. #perezout.

Real Madrid board should sack Perez before its getting bad to worse. Zizou, CR7 and now Ramos. Solari also one of the problem, and now considering Seedorf as a interm.. Isco and Marcelo on the edge, Benzema still upfront, Bale deep underwater(hard to breathe). Goalkeeper is bullshit(best WC award but not delivered at the club)i still prefer Navas. No future backup Centerback. And now perez want to buy Neymar for $350M. What the hell??? We love football, win draw loss we still love it. Even arguing with our arc rivals(on the pitch, not off the pitch of course) but still we called it football, this is not a business field.

Perez only know how to buy a star the big stars in his point of view for example look at Madrid goalkeeper while Navas still good as a last man defense but still Perez refers to the big name like courtious even the fact is Madrid don't really need it but Pérez too arrogance as a president and listen to no one.. Perez is the main reason reason why the great Zizou and CR7 choose to leave Madrid because they know what will happen if they stay under the stupid and arrogance president like Perez.. Madrid players should be appreciate and not to be blamed after they work hard to stay in the competition..
