Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has urged Marcus Rashford to leave Old Trafford, saying he "would love to see him in a better team".
Schweinsteiger was at United when Rashford broke into the first team under Louis van Gaal in 2016, with the forward netting a brace on his debut against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.
Rashford has since gone on to make almost 400 appearances for the Red Devils and earned a bumper new contract last year following a prolific campaign that saw him score 30 goals across all competitions.
However, Rashford has struggled for form this season and he has been linked with a potential move away from United - something Schweinsteiger believes would be good for him. "I would love to see him [Marcus Rashford] in a better team, where he gets the balls in the right moment," he said on The Overlap, brought to you by SkyBet.
"I would love to see that because in the years past, you don't really see that, so if he would play for a different team, maybe he would also increase his level a little bit more. He's still the player who can decide the games, but he doesn't show it too many times because maybe inside he's a little bit frustrated.
"First, he has to understand he can also be the example β you can handle frustration differently β but someone needs to tell him and speak with him. It has to come from him, that's very important.
"Sometimes you have these coaches who tell you, stay left, stay right, but you need to understand, if you play for Pep Guardiola, you need to understand what he wants and then you have to do it.
"You cannot just go to someone and say, 'Hey, run faster', you need to help him, and he needs to understand why." Schweinsteiger is not the only one of Rashford's former teammates to suggest he should leave United, with Wayne Rooney suggesting it may be time for a "fresh start".
"He has had a very difficult season," Rooney told Premier League Productions. "We all know he has got the ability and got all the attributes to be a top world-class player. That's the frustrating thing. Last season, he went and scored a lot of goals. But this season, he hasn't kicked on.
"He doesn't look happy when he is playing. You wonder, is his best option to move away from the club and have a fresh start? But he is a Manchester lad. I would love to see him get his career back on track at the club, go on to score goals and try to help the club win trophies."

Rashford is part of the problems in ManU. He is an expired product without inputs or creativity. His presence was responsible for the departure of potential good players upfront. He is the idolized preferred choiced player of all sacked managers. despite his poor performances.

I agree with both of them that Rashford should leave United. But I do disagree that he will be world class striker because he is already a world class striker. There is no one better finisher and intelligent in 6-12 yards. You can expect him to defend but he will score goals if you put player around him to pass the ball in box. He is more suited for Center forward role and he is like R9. When he is in box you need 2-3 defenders to defend him. He is kind of wasted at Man United
thank you, truly this united kids here don't watch football

Man Utd is simply worse at the moment and you should admit the truth instead of trying to justify BS

I don't agree with the comment that he hasn't gotten the ball at the right times, he has largely been a poor finisher during his career. Two seasons ago I remember getting so frustrated he used to waste most chances by shooting at the middle of the goal half way up. Of course a keeper saves that every time! He would be a good player in a really good team but not a star or difference maker. In that respect, he's a bit of a downhill skier, looks good doing the easier stuff

nobody wants lazy players at Manchester united anymore. we want players with appetite and hunger to play football. not players who play football because of English Media hype but they're totally doing rubbish in the pitch.

bitterness? he's advising the dude cos he's really suffering in that team!
Who's making him suffer? They should raise their game to propel Manchester United. They are not doing enough. Last season, for the first time in his career, he scored more than 30 goals under ETH, why did he slump this term?
