Chelsea transfer news: Blues fans are excited about a potential move for Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki as Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are spotted in France.

Chelsea fans have created a wild transfer theory with regards to Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki as the summer window comes to a close later this week. The 20-year-old forward has been on the radar for Chelsea over the past two months but as of yet no progress towards a deal has been made.

Cherki has dazzled at points during his young career so far, showing flashes of extreme skill and creativity in Ligue 1. His return of just 14 goals and 16 assists in senior football is moderate but for a player so young perhaps goes to show just why he is so highly thought of.

Despite Chelsea's abundance of young attacking talent they have still left Mauricio Pochettino short when it comes to current right-sided options. Raheem Sterling's scintillating start to the season has answered questions over him but Noni Madueke has made just one substitute appearance and is recovering from injury.

During RC Strasbourg's 2-0 win over Toulouse on Sunday, the home side's second victory in the opening three matches, Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali were spotted in the crowd. The pair made Strasbourg the first of what they hope to be numerous clubs under the BlueCo model earlier this year and were in place to watch on.

There were once again protests against the multi-club model though but it was the location of Boehly and Eghbali that had Chelsea fans thinking. The pair are by now well known to have been key in several signings since taking over last summer, none more so than Enzo Fernandez in January. Now, some suspect that there may be a link to Cherki with their trip to France.

To further matters, fans have also taken to his Instagram comments section to tell him of their wish to have him sign for Chelsea. "Come join us at Chelsea Boss !!!!" one user wrote last week despite Cherki posting the image of him in Lyon training nearly four weeks ago.

He has since turned off comments for his photos but it hasn't stopped fans flocking to voice their opinions. "A wide smile hahaha. Will you change your team to Lyon this summer and join the English Premier League?" asked another.

Meanwhile, as Strasbourg were winning Cherki was thriving for Lyon against Nice. Although he failed to impact the scoreline, it finished 0-0, he did show just why the Blues are looking towards him as an option.

In the first half he played a delightful deft backheel to get away from a high press inside his own half, operating from the right flank, before then picking up the wall pass and jinxing through three Nice players with strength, speed and immense ball control. His neat threaded pass found Amin Sarr but the finish was well saved.
