Emergency meeting called to solve Clasico security fears

Wednesday will see the Spanish FA host an urgent meeting to discuss security arrangements for the Clasico due to be played on December 18.

They wish to analyse and evaluate all of the potential scenarios, which could include the teams or referees not being able to reach the stadium.

The meeting, revealed by the 'Tiempo de Juego' programme on Cadena Cope, could even see the Spanish FA use article 42.3 of their statutes to declare that the game be played at a neutral stadium.

'Tiempo de Juego' also report that the interior ministry have guaranteed that the game can go ahead, with minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska set to meet with local police to plan for the fixture, with additional police forces being drafted in.

The urgency of the meeting comes as Tsunami Democratic threatened on Tuesday to block the streets surrounding the Camp Nou with more than 20,000 people on the day of the game, with 18,000 them already having signed up.

As such, doubts have arisen about the safety of the teams and fans with only eight days until the match and the response has been to call a meeting for Wednesday.

At the moment, Barcelona and Real Madrid are not due to attend.
