If Zinedine Zidane's incredible run of never losing a Champions League knockout tie as a coach was impressive, then his juxtaposing run in the Copa del Rey is as unimpressive, with the domestic cup continuing to be the Frenchman's kryptonite.
In three entries as Real Madrid coach, Zidane has never won the tournament, and Thursday's defeat is just the latest disappointment.
The three teams who have eliminated Los Blancos have been Celta Vigo, Leganes and Real Sociedad, with the latter coming in a dramatic 4-3 victory in 2020.
Zidane's first year in charge of the club saw the French coach miss out entirely on the tournament, with elimination to Cadiz prior to his appointment leaving only LaLiga Santander and the Champions League to fight for.
The first time he entered the tournament as a coach it was a close 4-3 aggregate elimination to Celta Vigo, whilst the next year it was Leganes who dumped Los Merengues out of the Copa.
Ironically, defeat to Leganes was the match which made Zidane's mind up that he wouldn't continue coaching the team past the end of that season, which he didn't.
These Copa del Rey scars will remain until Zidane eventually does taste success in the competition, but for now a resurgent Los Blancos can focus on trying to win the LaLiga and Champions League double.

at least this is the speciality in La Liga and make it still competitive, because few big clubs can play in CDR final or win it.

Clubs like Sociedad and co. are struggle in European football & league, so they play hard in Copa Del Rey, just like big clubs play hard in UCL

If zidane desperately wanted to win this match, he definitely would have put his best squad.. ir at least a better one
knowing casemiro, carvajal not playing he shouldn't have put Marcelo who already has defence fragility

No one's sweating about the defeat. For once everyone's calm about being knocked out of Copa Del Rey. Why? Because Barca got knocked out as wellππ If Madrid wouldn't win it then neither should theyπ
