Real Madrid 1-2 Man City: Jesus & KDB finish blitz comeback, Ramos sent off

Manchester City completed a stunning comeback at the Santiago Bernabeu as Kevin De Bruyne's penalty secured a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Despite being the better side for much of a frenetic encounter in Spain, City – who lost Aymeric Laporte to injury in the first half – looked set to be heading for a defeat when Isco put Madrid ahead on the hour.

But De Bruyne, a peripheral figure in the first half, led the fightback, supplying the cross from which Gabriel Jesus headed home an equaliser before coolly slotting in from 12 yards after Dani Carvajal had brought down substitute Raheem Sterling.

And Madrid's frustrations were compounded with four minutes remaining, captain Sergio Ramos seeing red for a last-man challenge on Jesus as City secured a lead to take back to Manchester.

City win a corner down their left. De Bruyne fires it towards the near post, Courtois flaps and Jesus' shot is cleared off the line! Ramos' positioning is all wrong and he almost puts it into his own net, but Casemiro spares his blushes.

Mahrez completes a lovely turn from Jesus' pass to fire a shot straight at Courtois. 

Shortly after, Mahrez beats the offside trap to latch onto a ball over the top. He's only got Courtois to beat and the keeper denies him!

Gundogan's pass in midfield is poor and Madrid press. Walker should clear but doesn't, Vinicius intercepts and finds Isco alone in the box, who can't miss!

Jesus gets behind Ramos to flick in De Bruyne's cross with his head. City are back in the game! They also have a valuable away goal.

PENALTY FOR CITY! Sterling takes on Carvajal and the full-back clumsily brings down the England winger just as he enters the box.

De Bruyne makes no mistake from the spot, sending Courtois the wrong way and dragging the penalty into the bottom left corner.

Jesus pounces on a mistake by the Madrid back line and is through on goal. Ramos catches Jesus with his trailing leg and the Madrid captain has to go!
