Barcelona's LaLiga coronation was delayed by at least 24 hours after 20-year-old Jacobo Ramon scored a stoppage-time winner in Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Mallorca.
Match Report
In their first game since boss Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he will leave to take charge of the Brazil national team at the end of the season, Madrid needed a victory to avoid handing Barca the title without their rivals kicking a ball.
It looked as though Barca would be crowned champions ahead of their derby meeting with Espanyol on Thursday, with Mallorca hitting the front in the 11th minute.
An angled strike from the right side of the box by defender Martin Valjent stunned Madrid at a half-empty Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid immediately began to lay siege to their visitors' goal from then on, with Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman denying Jude Bellingham and Luka Modric at full stretch before half-time.
They continued to pepper Roman's goal with shots after the interval, and Kylian Mbappe levelled with a fine individual effort in the 68th minute, darting between two challenges then steering a reverse finish into the bottom-left corner.
Thibaut Courtois made a strong save to deny Mateu Morey as Mallorca almost inched back ahead against the run of play, while Valjent cleared another Mbappe strike off the line and Gonzalo Garcia somehow failed to turn home from close range.
But a mistake by the visitors' defence, who failed to clear a high ball in the fifth minute of stoppage time, allowed Ramon to pounce on Jesus Vallejo's flick-on and volley into the net.
Madrid are now back within four points of Barca with just six to play for, with the Blaugrana only requiring one win from three matches to reclaim the crown.
Data debrief: Madrid finally find a way
Ramon's goal came from Madrid's 39th and final shot in this match – their highest tally at the Bernabeu in LaLiga since Opta records began in 2003-04.
In addition, Los Blancos took an eye-watering 26 corners in Wednesday's game, a record by any team in the competition since Opta began collecting corner data in 2005-06.
While Ramon was the hero for Madrid, there was another landmark for Mbappe, whose Clasico hat-trick on Sunday saw him break the record for most goals scored in a debut season for Madrid (all competitions).
His equaliser against Mallorca was his 28th goal in 32 outings in LaLiga in 2024-25.
That means he now holds the record for most league goals by a Madrid player in their debut campaign, surpassing Alfredo Di Stefano's haul of 27 in 1953-54 outright.

Mbappe scores when we needed. Despite so much struggles at the beginning of the season he found himself at the top of LaLiga top scorers. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Proud of you, Kylian
