Real Madrid 'preparing £103m bid for Mbappe at the end of the window'

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a £103million offer to sign PSG star Kylian Mbappe this summer.

The Spanish giants are planning to table a bid in the three days before September 1, when the transfer window ends, to put pressure on PSG, it is claimed.

Mbappe's desire to leave PSG is no secret but he has not been particularly keen to do so this summer, with his initial preference being to join Madrid once his contract is up.

He has refused to sign an extension, leading PSG bosses to insist he must be sold to the highest budder so they can recoup some cash - but he sensationally refused to speak with Saudi club Al-Hilal after they offered £259m for him.

Now, Madrid are set to try and land their man a year earlier than planned with a late summer swoop, according to BILD.

The urgency has been precipitated by the departure of Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad, leaving them in need of a high-end replacement.

Mbappe was, briefly, banished to the PSG 'B' team for training - an illustration of PSG's fury - but has since been reinstated.

The French champions' president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has confirmed plans to sell Mbappe if he does not agree a new deal after the forward was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan.

‘My position is very clear,’ he said. ‘I don’t want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract.

‘We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, we can’t do that. This is a French club. He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it’s not my fault. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, that’s very clear.’

PSG have made an underwhelming start to their Ligue 1 campaign with a 0-0 draw against Lorient and a 1-1 draw at Toulouse, with Mbappe scoring a second-half penalty.
