Kylian Mbappe scored twice as he helped Real Madrid get back to winning ways in LaLiga with a thumping 4-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.
Match Report
The Frenchman got the scoring started in a dominant first half, with Alvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham also on target, and Mbappe later rounded off the action after Sergio Camello had pulled one back for Rayo.
Rayo started brightly, but Madrid soon gained a foothold when Florian Lejeune flew into a challenge on Carreras inside the box, and Mbappe coolly rolled his 14th-minute penalty into the right side of the net.
Just three minutes later, the Frenchman turned provider, helping Carreras open up some space in the box with a one-two, and the Spaniard rifled past the helpless Emil Audero.
Vinicius Junior’s curler was pushed away from goal by Audero, who pounced back onto his feet to claw the ball away from the line and deny Mbappe a tap-in on the follow-up.
Vinicius continued to cause problems down the left wing, and another driving run saw him pull the ball back to Bellingham, who quickly opened up his body to side-foot in for Madrid’s third goal in the 35th minute.
Mbappe then cannoned an effort off the post just before the break, but Rayo started the second half on top, as Pedro Diaz’s long-range effort struck the upright with Thibaut Courtois beaten.
Rayo pulled a goal back in the 51st minute when they caught Madrid playing out from the back, and Unai Lopez's interception teed up Camello to slot past Courtois.
Madrid kept pushing, with Denzel Dumfries forcing Audero into a fine reflex save on the line with a powerful header, and Mbappe rounded off the scoring with a low strike across goal in the 91st minute.
Mourinho gets Los Blancos back on track
A shock 1-0 loss to Real Betis last time out in LaLiga halted Madrid's early momentum under Mourinho, but they wasted no time getting back to winning ways with another big-scoring display.
It is already the second time this season that Madrid have scored three goals in the first half in the league this season – matching the number of times they managed it in 2025-26.
Mbappe, as he so often does, played a big part in their win, becoming the first Madrid player to both score and assist in the first 17 minutes of a home match in LaLiga since James Rodriguez in January 2016 against Espanyol.
He has already netted six goals in LaLiga this season, making him the first player to score that many goals in Madrid's opening five league matches since Karim Benzema in 2021-22 (also six).
The 27-year-old led all Madrid players for shots (five), efforts on target (three) and touches in the opposition box (10), while he also created four chances, with only substitute Arda Guler (five) tallying more.

Even when Madrid wins, it's not exciting cuz they are boring to watch. We are never closer to Barca n if this is how our midfielders going to play in e el classico then We should already prepare for 5 goals defeat. We can't play without conceiving a goal. Bellingham, Guler and Konate are e only players joyful to watch.
