Alvaro Arbeloa insisted Real Madrid do not "need to perform any miracles" to defeat Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final tie.
Los Blancos are 2-1 down heading into the second leg at Allianz Arena on Wednesday, with Kylian Mbappe restoring some hope at the Santiago Bernabeu after earlier goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane.
Madrid are unbeaten in their last four away games against Bayern (W3 D1).
In the Bundesliga era (since 1963-64), only two sides have managed to go five in a row without losing away to Bayern, those sides being Werder Bremen (five from 1989-1992 and 2007-2010) and Koln (five from 2003-2010).
Arbeloa believes Madrid's history in the competition is enough evidence to prove they are not out of the contest, despite Bayern's strengths.
"First of all, we are Real Madrid. If there is a team that comes to this stadium to turn things around, it's us," said Arbeloa.
"We are a team that never gives up, the team with 15 European Cups. We are Real Madrid and we will return with our badge or on top of it.
"I don’t see that we need to perform any miracles. If we won the other day, it wouldn’t have been anything crazy.
"Their goalkeeper [Manuel Neuer] was the MVP. We are capable of doing it. Nobody who knows Real Madrid thinks that Real Madrid winning tomorrow will be a miracle."
Kane is enjoying a fine 2025-26 campaign, which has seen him receive shouts to win the Ballon d'Or.
Kane has scored in his last four Champions League games (six goals), and could equal the longest scoring streak by an English player in the competition (five by Steven Gerrard in 2007-08).
Jude Bellingham, Kane's team-mate at international level, was full of praise for the Bayern striker.
"Whether he wins the Ballon d'Or depends on what his team does," said the Madrid midfielder.
"He's a fantastic player, and I think they're going to win the Bundesliga, even though it pains me because of my brother [Jobe, who plays for Dortmund].
"It's an honour to have him in the national team; he's shown how good he is. It's a pleasure to watch him play. Let's see if he can carry this over to the World Cup.
"I hope he doesn't show up, or that we know how to stop him."

He is right and most Los Blancos would agreed with him on this because their season ended a long time ago.

Imagine a coach saying their experience will win them a remontada. We’ll see if tactics is it or it’s just mouth and experience.

Delusion Pro Max 🤣🤣🤣 There are greater chances of Sporting going all way to the final of this year's UCL and even winning the whole thing, than Madrid making a comeback against Bayern 🤣🤣

This useless Madrid team is not capable of doing anything out of the ordinary and Arbeloa knows that. He is just shivering whilst pretending to be something else

We all know Real Madrid. But do these lazy players, especially Vini and Mbappe, know what is Real Madrid and what does it means to play for this legendary club. Keep spoiling them and we will not see a trophy in the next 5 years.
