The great novelty of Real Madrid’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, which ended it a 2-2 draw, was Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian goalkeeper was included in the matchday squad for the first time this season, following back-to-back knee injuries, one of which was an ACL tear.

Courtois has been back in training for the last couple of weeks, and according to MD, he has completed every session without complication. The signs are good for him to starting playing again, and he is expected to make his first competitive appearance in almost 12 months when Cadiz come to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.

In recent days, it has also been touted that Courtois could replace Andriy Lunin for the return leg against Bayern next week. Playing him against Cadiz would certainly edge towards this being a reality, as it would allow match sharpness to be built up ahead of Real Madrid’s most important match of the season so far.
