Real Madrid finished out their La Liga campaign against Real Betis on Friday night with a relaxed and good-spirited atmosphere. It was contested, but tackles were not lying in and not a single yellow card was shown.

Positive energy in training ahead of the final game of the season

FC Barcelona stars were in a positive mood right before the final again of the 21/22 season vs Villarreal.

That in itself has brought about a new record. For the first time since 1984, Los Blancos have gone an entire season without receiving a red card, as pointed out by Sam Leveridge.

Congratulations to Real Madrid on their first full LaLiga season without a red card since 1983/84.

The record is likely anecdotal, although even more likely to irritate rival finals. Real Madrid are also the team to finish with the least yellow cards (76) – only Villarreal can equal that total, although they have a game to play against Barcelona.

The worst disciplinary record in La Liga belongs to Getafe, who have racked up 116 yellow cards and also managed 8 red cards this season. The latter is only equalled by Valencia, who have also suffered the same amount of sending offs but are two yellow cards short of Getafe’s total.
