New opponent, new eleven. Xabi Alonso will have no choice but to “invent” yet another starting lineup when Real Madrid face Getafe. It will be the 11th different lineup in as many games this season for the Basque coach. A growing list of injuries – particularly in defense – has again left Alonso scrambling for solutions. Mbappé and Courtois remain untouchable, while Jude Bellingham is expected to return to the starting XI.
The Englishman, who has only started once since shoulder surgery – in a disappointing showing in the Madrid derby – has used the recent international break to get back in shape. The FIFA window allowed him to complete a kind of mini pre-season and regain rhythm just in time for a crucial stretch: Juventus in the Champions League, Barcelona in El Clásico, and Liverpool away. What remains to be seen is how Alonso rebuilds his system around Bellingham – whether he sticks with a 4-3-3, returns to the 4-2-3-1 from the derby, or experiments with a 4-4-2 diamond featuring the Englishman at the tip.
Defensive puzzle for Alonso
If midfield presents a puzzle, the back line is an outright Sudoku. With Huijsen, Carvajal, Trent, Rüdiger, and Mendy all unavailable, Alonso will again need to get creative. Asencio is expected to partner Militão at center back, Carreras will cover the left flank, and Valverde – the ultimate team player – is set to reprise his role as emergency right back. Alaba and Fran García will be on the bench as the only defensive substitutes.
Bellingham’s return reshapes the midfield
Tchouaméni will anchor the midfield alongside Camavinga, but one of the lingering questions – beyond formation – is whether Bellingham’s return pushes Güler to the bench or if the Turkish playmaker keeps his place, with Mastantuono making way. Up front, Vinícius and Mbappé lead the attack.
Probable lineup for Getafe vs Real Madrid
Courtois; Valverde, Asencio, Militão, Carreras; Güler or Mastantuono, Tchouaméni, Camavinga, Bellingham; Mbappé, Vinícius.
Xabi Alonso has called up 21 players for the match, including academy product Thiago Pitarch, back from the U-20 World Cup. The substitutes at the Coliseum will be: Lunin, Mestre, Alaba, Fran García, Thiago Pitarch, Brahim, Mastantuono or Güler, Endrick, and Gonzalo.
Real Madrid absentees vs Getafe
Six players will miss the match: Carvajal, Trent, Huijsen, Rüdiger, Mendy – who returned to group training this week – and Ceballos.

Alonso should know that he doesn’t need 4 back in this game, he should just capture the opponent in the midfield
