Real Madrid will travel to face AEK Athens on Matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase. The in-form Los Blancos are targeting a fourth consecutive Champions League win, but the Greek side’s home ground has proved a challenging venue for Madrid in the past.
The sides’ only two Champions League meetings came in the 2002-03 group stage. Real Madrid drew 3-3 away to AEK Athens in an end-to-end first encounter. Back at the Bernabéu for the return fixture, Los Blancos were again held to a draw, this time 2-2.
In other words, Real Madrid have faced AEK Athens twice in the Champions League, drawing both matches without recording a win. In other European competition, AEK also beat Real Madrid 1-0 at home in the UEFA Cup in 1985. Athens has never been a happy hunting ground for Real Madrid.

Let me enlighten some fans here. They re the only top European club that has Real Madrid in their anthem. They feel the club is so good that mighty Real Madrid couldn't beat them...so they added it to their anthem.
