Real Madrid star Endrick could make shock EPL move after transfer talks

The Premier League's basement boys Southampton could be set for quite a January window with an ambitious move for Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick - but could face competition.

The Brazilian, 18, has emerged as a transfer target for the struggling Saints ahead of the winter window opening. Endrick only arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer in a £60m move from Palmeiras.

But his opportunities have been limited this term. He has made ten appearances in all competitions, scoring twice, but he has yet to start a game, while his league appearances have been limited to late cameos.

And it is now claimed that he could potentially leave Real Madrid on a temporary deal in an effort to develop his game. Southampton are one of the clubs linked with him.

According to Sport, the Saints have got in touch with Real over a potential deal but they could face competition. Serie A side Roma have also reportedly submitted an enquiry, while Real Valladolid are also interested.

There is still time to come to a decision over Endrick’s future before the January window - and the same could be said for his teammate Arda Guler. The Turkish youngster has also been linked with a move away, with Arsenal among those to open contact with their Spanish colleagues.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has already spoken out on his plans for the duo. Speaking earlier this month, the Italian said: "[Endrick is] ready to play, doing very well, showing a lot of quality in training.

"I say the same about Güler. They are young people who are pushing. But the collective idea is to turn things around as quickly as possible. Can you do that with them? Yes. But the objective is to turn it around, that is the priority. Not to give minutes to one player or another.” He added: "We can use Endrick and Güler in the next games. They can help us a lot."

Whether Southampton manage to sign Endrick or not, they certainly need more recruits if they are to stave off an instant return to the Championship. Russell Martin’s side have won just once in 11 games so far this season.

They have also struggled to find the net this term - scoring on just seven occasions, fewer than any other side. That form leaves Southampton sitting bottom of the table and already four points adrift of safety.
