The new Carlo Ancelotti Napoli era has already kicked off and Lyon's Mariano Diaz has been linked with a potential move to the south of Italy.
Back in May the club's president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, confirmed the signing of a player that scored 20 goals last season in Europe.
The names of Mario Balotelli, Bas Dost, Vincent Aboubakar and Facundo Ferreyra have been put on the table, but the former Real Madrid striker now seems as the front-runner.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are attracted by the player's quality and development, while Los Blancos are considering bringing the player back to Madrid.
Last season, Mariano managed to find the net 21 times in 45 games with the French team.

This is crazy Real Madrid hit big ,,,,not Mariano if you are to bring mariano then who will be the starter Benzema again? ......no Benzema should be a back up

We should be aiming higher than Mariano. He's had a good year, much better than expected but we need a lethal starting striker. We can't go into next season hoping for Cristiano to bail us out every game because he is the only one consistently scoring. Hala Madrid!

I don't think Mariano + Benzema is a bad partnership for when Ronaldo gets injured or suspended. On paper at least, one is a pure finisher and the other is a supporting player. If Mariano gets enough to work with, he'll score. That is of course if we stick with two strikers,

He would be a nice backup. I doubt he wants to be that though

After all this wait... Mariano???

Would be a fairly good move for both parties if true. Real, although losing money on him, get a good backup striker and now that Lyon have switched formations Mariano hasn't started and they have Gouiri who can hopefully make the step up to backup.

Nah, I want someone with the hierarchy to challenge Benzema’s spot, he played well in the final, but his season as a whole was terrible.

I dont see why he would want to return to be a back up striker. He would play as much as Mayoral did this season. TBH If I were him I'd stay in Lyon, Ligue 1 is growing and he was doing well there.

I dont think we gave him a fair shake. He's so raw but his finishing reminds me of Asensio just unforgiving. Plus he never disappointed when he played for us and was very hungry for goals.

The reviews from the Lyon fans don't fill me with confidence. Scoring goals is good but our style of play demands more from a striker

Mariano doesn't fit Real. He's like Diego Costa but with less technical abilities.

It may happen but I don't picture Mariano playing along side players like Cristiano or Benzema. He's far from being a technical genius and his playstyle isn't very elegant. But if Zidane just want an efficient striker, I guess it could happen.

Arsenal should pick him up
