Real Madrid, who are also preparing potential Marcelo and Luka Modric replacements, are eager to build their side around the Chelsea star.
Real Madrid remain in the midst of the race for silverware this season, particularly in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, but are also busy preparing for the future - not least given the inconsistent nature of a 2018/19 campaign that has left Madridistas calling for major signings.
There are players who have been key to their trophy successes of recent years whose futures at Madrid are uncertain, such as Marcelo and Luka Modric. The left-back and the midfielder are attracting the interest of Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan, respectively, and top-quality replacements will have to be brought in for the pair if they end up leaving the Bernabéu at the end of the season.
Madrid want Hazard as new cornerstone of side
Aside from those concerns, however, Madrid chiefs' attention is above all focused on luring Chelsea's Eden Hazard this summer, with the European champions keen to re-build the side around the Belgium international. Now 28, Hazard is in his peak years as a player and is fresh from sparkling at the World Cup in Russia, where he was a key figure in his country's run to the semi-finals.
Hazard is out of contract at Chelsea in June 2020 and, so far, has not been persuaded to extend his commitment to the Premier League club. He is valued at 150m euros by the specialist website Transfermarkt.com but, given that he will - as things stand - be heading into the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge this summer, Madrid would be reluctant to spend much more than 100m.
Pursuit of Tottenham's Eriksen now over
Hazard is now Madrid's chief target after Los Blancos ended their interest in Tottenham's Christian Eriksen. Like Hazard, Eriksen's contract expires in 2020, but Madrid have opted not to go after the Dane in a bid to avoid a transfer war with Spurs, a club they have considered as an ally ever since successfully doing business over Modric and Gareth Bale.

It's easy to move to other club. If you wants to be a real legend you need to stay at the club who show you love and support. Like Lampard, Drogba, Puyol, Gerrard, Raul, Figo, giggs, Del Piero, Totti. This player's will always be remember and love from clubs and fans. Gerard could move to Real also but he stay at Liverpool to the end. Real legends fight and stay whit the club who show them support, and fans who love them. If he have win Everything whit a same club and want to get new experience it's OK. But he still have to win champions leauge whit Chelsea and commety shield trophy's. I anderstant Ronaldo leave Real Madrid he have won everything and have made history I Madrid. And president wants him out. But in Chelsea nobody wants him to leave. Everyone love him he should stay. 😉

C'mon Chelsea fans there is gonna be life without Hazard. We are having life without Zola Lampard Essien Drogba Ramires Joe Cole Ashley Cole an many others and I think we are doing pretty fine. We hardly see a One Club player anymore so if he leaves that's ok. Just move on with our lives man

It's just another rumor which won't come true. In the end, they won't sign Hazard like every other season. They are linked with great players like Mbappe, Neymar, Hazard, Ircadi and Kane but end up with Mariano and some other young players in their 20s

Great business from Madrid pulling away from Eriksen to not upset them. “Madrid have opted not to go after the Dane in a bid to avoid a transfer war with Spurs, a club they have considered as an ally” I would like to keep our relations with top clubs good unlike Barca who have been making things sour with other clubs recently. It’s why we have been able to sign players over Barca recently for example Rodrygo at Santos. Santos doesn’t wanna do business with Barca so they gave him to Real Madrid. Than we overpaid for Diaz to strengthen the relationship with City. Great business, can’t wait for this summer transfer window.
