Real Madrid to put pressure on Atletico until the end

Zinedine Zidane made clear weeks ago that Real Madrid would pursue this LaLiga Santander title until the very last game, and he has delivered on his promise.

Regardless of whether they finally manage to win the trophy or not, Real Madrid have not given in and have put pressure on Atletico Madrid heading into the last matchday of the season.

Los Blancos grabbed a big win over Athletic Club in Bilbao thanks to a Nacho Fernandez winner, while Atletico needed a late Luis Suarez goal to come back from behind and beat Osasuna 2-1 at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

No defeat in 17 matches.

Real Madrid have showed character during the last three months and have gone 17 games without losing, registering 12 wins and five draws on the way.

Since Zidane's side lost to Levante back on January 30, they have managed to grab 41 of the possible 51 points in LaLiga Santander, despite the endless list of injuries and the tight schedule.

During that same period, title candidates Sevilla mustered 35 points by registering 11 victories, four defeats and two draws, while Barcelona picked up 36 points with 11 wins, three losses and another three draws.

Pressure until the end

Atletico Madrid have struggled since February too, as they have grabbed 33 of the available 54 points by winning nine games, losing three and drawing six.

Real Madrid are now five points ahead of Barcelona and seven ahead of Sevilla, and on Sunday they almost managed to overtake Atletico in the LaLiga Santander table.

Los Blancos are here to compete for the title until the very last game of the season.
