Real Madrid's 1966 European Cup goal hero Serena passes away

The former Real Madrid (1963-1968) player Fernando Rodríguez Serena passed away today at the age of 77.

A four-time LaLiga winner with Real Madrid from 1963 to 1968, Fernando Rodríguez Serena, has passed away at the age of  77.

The midfielder made his name in the game with Real Madrid joining the Bernabeu outfit in 1963 pulling on the famous white shirt 86 times for the side from the capital. 

He was on target 15 times during his spell with Madrid but his most famous goal for "Los Blancos" came in the 1966 European Cup Final. With the game against Partizan Belgrade tied at 1-1, Serena was on hand to bag the winner in the 76th minute and in the process secured Real Madrid's sixth European Cup win in the process.

Serena later played with Osasuna, Elche and Sant Andreu also winning one international cap with the Spanish national team.
