The five dramatic days at Real Madrid - between the losses to Alaves and Shakhtar Donetsk - have made way for eight fantastic days for the club, in which they've won three huge games. First they beat Sevilla 1-0, then Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0, and lastly, they showed their dominance over Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 derby win, giving them an aggregate 5-0 win over their apparent crisis.
Los Blancos came into the derby in their umpteenth crisis, suffering one of their strangest starts to a season in recent years. The defeat to Alaves was troubling, but then the loss at Shakhtar only made things worse.
At that time, 11 days ago, things looked dark at the club. Zinedine Zidane's future was more up in the air than ever before, they had lost five of 16 games and they looked unable to reverse the trend. Things looked back in LaLiga Santander and in the Champions League as well, with Madrid vulnerable in Europe and almost out of contention domestically.
But Real Madrid have managed to climb out of crisis, coming through three tricky fixtures to do so. A visit to the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan was first, then they had to host leaders Atletico either side of a crucial Champions League group game, that had the implications of a knockout tie.
Now, Madrid's season looks remarkable. They've made it into the Champions League's knockout rounds as group winners and they've joined the race in LaLiga Santander, now sitting just three points behind Atleti, although they have a game more played. They've beaten Sevilla, Atletico, and Barcelona in Spain, while they beat Inter twice in Europe as well.
Life looks different at Madrid. They've been afforded some peace after weeks of tension.
They hadn't won three games in a row since October 4, when they had beaten Real Betis, Valladolid and Levante.
Madrid can breathe. Zidane is recharged, having come through the most delicate situation he's faced since coming back to the club in March 2019.
Beyond the results, there are positive feelings around Real Madrid again.

It wasn't only about the results, it was the team spirit, dedication and fighting spirit I saw in the match against athletico Madrid that impressed me most. they played for the team, they played for Madrid and that's all this talented squad has been lacking all season. If they play with such drive all season there are very few teams that would withstand Real Madrid this season.
