Real Madrid's big week: Everything at stake for Zidane, Raul and Laso

Real Madrid's hopes for the 2020/21 season will all be decided in the space of six days, but it is not just Zinedine Zidane's first-team squad that will have the pressure put on them.

Raul Gonzalez's Castilla are seeking promotion to LaLiga SmartBank, while Pablo Laso's basketball team are looking to stay alive in the EuroLeague playoffs, having forced a Game 5 against Anadolu Efes.

Los Blancos' big week gets underway in Istanbul, curiously the city that will host the Champions League final, as Laso's side look to beat Efes on their home floor and advance to the EuroLeague's Final Four, which will take place in Cologne from May 28 to 30.

Visit from Florentino Perez

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is aware of the medical- and NBA-related absences that Laso and the basketball team have had to deal with this season, so given that he will not be in Istanbul for the decisive Game 5, he went to Valdebebas on Monday to wish the players and coaching staff good luck.

Florentino Perez will, however, travel with London with the Real Madrid first-team football team for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Chelsea, which takes place on Wednesday night.

Then, four days later, Zidane's side will look to continue their fight to win the LaLiga Santander title when they host Sevilla at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, one day after Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in another top-of-the-table clash.

Raul's Castilla, meanwhile, will take on Talavera next Sunday in the Segunda Division B, as they look to try and keep themselves in the hunt for promotion to LaLiga SmartBank.

Laso, Zidane and Raul

Pablo Laso took charge of Real Madrid's basketball team in 2011, so if he sees out his current contract he will have been in the role for 12 years. He has the full confidence of the club's directors.

Zinedine Zidane has refused to give a clear answer when discussing his future, but he does have a contract at the club until 2022. Time will tell what happens with the Frenchman.

Many say that Raul Gonzalez is destined to coach Real Madrid's first team one day. He is adding to his resumé with an impressive push for promotion to the Segunda Division, after winning the UEFA Youth League with the under-19s last summer, which is the first time Los Blancos had lifted this trophy.
