Real Madrid's mission to raise 300 million euros in transfer sales

Change is coming to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and Real Madrid have been working for months to give the squad a facelift after a disappointing 2018/19 campaign.

The primary focus will be on new arrivals and Eder Militao and Rodrygo have already been confirmed, while others like Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy are still works in progress.

But there will be departures as well, and those upstairs have a lot of work to do as moving a player on from Real Madrid isn't a straightforward task.

Everyone wants to stay, but Zinedine Zidane has other plans and the club will need to push some out the door to balance the books.

Ninety-five million euros have already been spent on the two confirmed signings, and Hazard will cost between 100m and 110m euros.

Jovic could be 70m euros and Mendy might set the club back 40m euros, not to mention the additional sums that could go elsewhere, namely on Paul Pogba or another big-name midfielder.

The investment in the squad could easily surpass 400m euros, which is a striking figure.

But the club is also hoping for a record-breaking summer of sales in an attempt to level things up, and they will need to move on 300m euros worth of talent.

Real Madrid have to hit targets to please UEFA and their executive committee, who will approve the new Financial Fair Play framework for next season ahead of the Europa League final on Wednesday.

With the club needing to hit a specific target, Isco, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez are seen as the players whose sales could go a long way to meeting that aim.

But the Spaniard's situation is the most in the balance and Zidane's wishes to move him on aren't shared by the player, with the No.22 keen to stay put at the Bernabeu.

The 2018/19 season saw Isco go from being a star player to a regular on the bench, but he wants to win his place back in the starting XI next season.

The market isn't endless, either, and there are only a handful of Premier League or Serie A sides who could pay the price of around 60m euros to sign him.

James' situation is similar, but Zidane is more certain about him not being part of his plans.

Bayern Munich won't keep him, while Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are the most likely to make a move for around 70m euros.

Bale is another who poses a problem.

Zidane has been clear that the Welshman isn't wanted or needed, but he still has three years left on his contract and is paid 17m euros a season.

Mateo Kovacic will likely sign for Chelsea for 35m euros, as per the agreement in place in his loan contract, but despite his happiness at Stamford BridgeReal Madrid might be able to initiate a bidding war for the Croatian.

Keylor Navas, Dani Ceballos, Lucas Vazquez, Mariano Diaz, Raul De Tomas, Borja Mayoral and Theo Hernandez are all others whose sales could get Los Blancos closer to their target.

The potential arrivals and departures and their prices
