Many prominent figures attended the grand opening of RB Leipzig's new offices on Wednesday morning. In addition to Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff (50), Mark Mateschitz (33) was also there with his partner Victoria Swarovski (32), as was Mario Gomez (40), technical director of the Red Bull soccer empire.
Only one person was missing from this prominent group: global boss Jürgen Klopp (58). According to BILD information, his absence had been known for some time. It is said that he was at a business meeting in New York.
However, regular speculation about Klopp's return to the sidelines continues. The latest rumor: Real Madrid is interested in the German world-class coach because coach Xabi Alonso (44) is facing enormous criticism after only a few months in office. According to reports, Klopp is at the top of President Florentino Pérez's wish list.
But that's not the case, says Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff (50)! During a panel discussion with the Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper, the powerful boss made it clear: “Jürgen has made it clear that he does not want to be a coach at the moment. Whether that will change at some point in his life remains to be seen, of course. But I can see how passionate he is about his job, how many ideas he has and how much he wants to develop. That's why I'm completely relaxed.”
Mintzlaff also denied once again that there was a possible exit agreement. Rumor has it that Klopp does not have a classic exit clause in his contract, which runs until 2029, but rather an agreement that he can leave if a top European club or the DFB comes knocking.
Mintzlaff: “We've heard the discussion – that's just how things are in Germany. If Julian Nagelsmann loses two games, we question everything, but if we win two games, we're already world champions.”
He continued: “Firstly, I am convinced that we have an outstanding national coach in Julian Nagelsmann. And secondly, Jürgen has clearly committed himself and said that he is keen on the job and wants to build something here. That's why we never considered other options.”
What is certain, however, is that according to BILD information, Klopp will be coming to Leipzig at the end of next week for the last home game against Leverkusen. Then there will be a season analysis with the bosses.
Also certain: the next coaching rumor surrounding Klopp is sure to come...
