According to journalist Luke Edwards, Newcastle United has not reached an oral agreement with Arsenal regarding the transfer of Guimaraes.
Edwards stated on social media: "This is really tiring. There are indeed some excellent transfer journalists out there, but the problem is they've spawned too many fake journalists. I don't know if this transfer will happen, I think it's 50/50. If it's going to happen, the next week or so will be crucial."

Newcastle have already forgotten what happened with Isak....it will be bad for Newcastle club reputation if this will be the case with their captain Guimares...How much did Gordon cost?80 m despite being 25yrs and i believe if he was moving to epl Newcastle would have demanded more...if a player decides to leave a club which has sold it's best forwards in Gordon n Isak and it's best midfielder Tonali...it means the club is the problem not the players who want to leave...maybe the club is not ambitious.period

70ml plus 5ml in easy obtainable add ons is more than fair for someone who’s 29 in early November. Newcastle should understand if a player badly wants to go elsewhere, you are taking a massive risk denying him that choice. They have got to stop being greedy with their demands.
