Revealed: 3 MU stars that could still leave despite transfer window being closed

Manchester United may have lost their opportunity to bring in new blood when the summer transfer window slammed shut on Monday evening, but there could still be plenty of outgoings from Old Trafford.

The Premier League window to sign players closed at 7pm, and United wrapped up their business - in terms of incomings - by bringing in goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in a deal worth £21.7million.

The Belgian shot-stopper became Ruben Amorim's sixth signing of what has been a summer of change, with United spending over £220m on their rebuild as the Portuguese coach looks to build a side that suits his system.

Ineos also de-weeded the squad that were part of the club's worst-ever Premier League points tally and finish last season. 29 players have either left on a permanent basis or on loan.

Four of the stars to have departed formed part of a five-man bomb squad. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony all moved on from Old Trafford, with the latter two leaving it late on deadline day.

The fifth man of that quintet is Tyrell Malacia, and with the window in England now over, you would think that his chances of forcing a move away from United have gone for at least five months. However, he should not give up hope just yet.

All of Europe's top five leagues have seen their transfer windows shut, but the Saudi Pro League can still bring in players until September 10, while the Turkish Pro League can complete transfers for a further two days.

That means that the door is not shut for Malacia, or in fact, both Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana, whose futures have been cast into doubt due to the arrival of 23-year-old Lammens.

We have already seen Ilkay Gundogan take advantage of the extra time in Turkey, with the Manchester City midfielder arriving in Istanbul ahead of a move to Galatasaray on Tuesday afternoon.

A later departure cannot be ruled out for Onana, who was linked with Monaco, West Ham, and FC Neom this summer. In the case of Bayindir, a return to his homeland remains possible.

However, there is nothing in the pipeline as it stands, according to United sources.

The January window could open up another opportunity for Onana to leave, but that seems unlikely because the keeper is set to be away with Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations, which runs until January 18.

The 29-year-old and Bayindir have both been criticised in the early stages of the season as United have weighed up a move for Lammens and Aston Villa No 1 Emi Martinez.

Bayindir has played in all three Premier League games after Onana missed pre-season with a hamstring injury, and the former Ajax and Inter Milan keeper returned for the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town - a game in which he was arguably at fault for two goals.

It’s understood that Onana has been expecting to stay, and that is more likely now that United have opted for Lammens over Martinez.
