The unusual dish that Cristiano Ronaldo loves to eat to stay strong at 40 years old has been revealed.

Ronaldo, who turned 40 last month and continues to be a regular starter with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, is targeting the 2026 World Cup with country Portugal, when he will be 42.

He has become synonymous with keeping an impressive physique during his career, often donning his abs and not afraid to take his shirt off, whether it be after scoring a goal or on social media.

This season, the forward has played 33 times for Al-Nassr, scoring 28 goals in all competitions and topping the goal scorer charts for the league.

It comes after years of success with the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid, which he has taken with him to Saudi Arabia.

But an unusual dish, it has been suggested, is behind it all. Ronaldo has been known to stick to basic dishes to help maintain his physique, but Bacalhau a Bras, a Portuguese dish, is one he loves and will often eat.

The meal is made up of salted cod, onions, potatoes, and eggs. It is quick to prepare, and he began eating it through his mother's recipe.

In fact, Ronaldo's restaurant in Lisbon serves the plate to customer using his mum's recipe, and the man himself says it reminds him of 'my childhood, it keeps me strong'.

It is thought that Ronaldo generally sticks to a high-protein diet and consumes little sugar and alcohol, usually sticking to water with his drink.

And it has certainly paid off in a career that has seen him win 33 senior trophies in his career, including five Ballon d'Or titles and five Champions Leagues.

This season, despite the Portugal star's goal scoring exploits, Al-Nassr are third in the Saudi Pro League table - 10 points behind Al-Ittihad in first.

They are yet to win the league since Ronaldo's arrival two years ago, despite the efforts of the likes of Sadio Mane, Jhon Duran and Ronaldo.
