Reyes' car was in fact going at speed between 130 and 135 km/h, not 237

The cause of the car accident that killed Jose Antonio Reyes and his cousin on June 1 is still relatively unknown.

The car was originally thought to be going at around 237 kilometres per hour, but a recent investigation has suggested something different.

According to an article written by expert Francisco Galadi in Diario de Sevilla, the car was in fact going at a speed between 130 and 135 km/h.

"I did various calculations and I got results that were very different from these high speeds," Galadi said.

Galadi also confirmed that a type puncture was the main cause of the incident.

"This was the reason why he lost control of the car," he went on. "You can see four marks [on the road].

"Out of the four, one suggests that something metallic was causing friction with the asphalt.

"There's no doubt in my mind that it's an edge of the aluminium rim."

Another law specialist Myriam Moya has given her own views in a blog in which she says that the car was going between 111 and 128 km/h.
