Rio Ferdinand has insisted that Manchester United need to hold fire in potentially sacking Erik ten Hag.
United have endured their worst ever start to a Premier League season under the Dutchman, currently 10th in the table with just three wins from their opening seven matches of the season.
The club have also been plagued by off-the-field issues, with Antony taking time away following domestic abuse allegations and Jadon Sancho engulfed in a war of words with his manager and not available for selection.
Ferdinand made 45 appearances for the Red Devils between 2002 and 2014, winning six league titles. They club haven't won one since, however, and look as far away as ever this term.
Ferdinand, though, speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, warned that United shouldn't kneejerk and change their manager.
'At the end of last season, everyone who had watched Man Utd was saying, "they're not Man Utd and where everyone expects them to be, but you can see they're improving.
'We start the season, for whatever reason it's like they've gone backwards. So, you're waiting now for a response, for them to come again. Remember when he (Ten Hag) started last season - poor results early on.
'You're hoping that trajectory continues again and at some point, it changes, but at the moment, I can understand where negativity comes from, I can understand why certain parts of the fanbase are booing at the stadium a little bit.
'You still need time, man. Knee-jerk reactions of, "ah, get rid of him, get rid of him", you have got to give the guy some time. He showed that he can improve the team, improve the players, but they need to get going now.'
United lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace at the weekend as they picked up their fourth league defeat of the season.
Boos rang round the ground at Old Trafford following full time, with the club also losing to Arsenal, Brighton and Tottenham in the league this season.
They will take on Galatasaray next in the Champions League this week, in dire search of some points having lost their opening match of the group stage against Bayern Munich a fortnight ago.
Ten Hag's side will host Brentford in the Premier League next this coming weekend.

For real and good say thanks for ten hag's work last season he made us have faith and believe as he won the carabao reached the fa cup final and then finished on the top four which a good work to cheer!! but he has got confused and too stubborn to an extent he's lying himself and at the end of the day he'll face a knife 🗡️ on his neck or change before thing's get more worse for a real united fan will understand why we're losing not because of the injuries though I accept injuries also plays it's part because the team doesn't have what he the coach wants 1: since we brought Mount to utd whenever he's there we end up watching the shadow of Bruno not he's bad but both of them can't press......in the middle of the pack 2: we're all aware of the injuries hit at the moment but we know lindelofe can play on both positions as a fullback then shift him there to pattern dalot then play varane and Evans as center backs..... 3: We have all seen from day one from the game against wolves how weak our midfield is I thought Amrabat was brought in to give that energy to casemiro then Bruno plays Infront of them then we play a 433 system since we got two defensive midfielders then good winger's.....at the same line...but at the end ten hag ends playing his rubbish 4: Rashford is off form and he has shown us he can't play with a striker that means if though we hard haaland in the team with his kind of play with a lot of selfishness still he could not score the goals he scores at city so Mount could replace Rashford on that position and then play Martial we're all aware how good he is as winger he can pass the ball to hojuland
