Chelsea transfer new: Robert Sanchez has spoken on signing for the Blues, Mauricio Pochettino and much more in his first words after sealing a permanent move from Brighton
Upon his £25million switch, the 25-year-old has signed a seven-year contract as he looks set to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga to be Chelsea's No.1 goalkeeper.
"I started really my career here in England," Sanchez told Chelsea's official website in his first words since signing for the Blues. "Brighton has given and provided me everything I needed as a goalkeeper inside and outside the pitch to get the maximum potential out of me which I'm really happy I have done and thankful. Obviously now it is another bigger challenge and I'm ready for it.
"Choosing Chelsea was the best choice that I could have picked because of the opportunities that they have presented in front of me is amazing to develop more as a goalkeeper, learning and to compete for the spot and show everybody how good I can be."
Sanchez lost his starting place at Amex Stadium to Jason Steele last season Sanchez, and struggled to regain Robert De Zerbi's trust. The arrival of Bart Verbruggen further complicated things with Sanchez appearing as the third-choice, which made talks advance relatively quickly.
When asked about working under Mauricio Pochettino, he said: "Really excited. Amazing opportunity to work with a coach of that level. Obviously I have watched him at his past clubs, what he has done and I think what he brings to the club, the family [feel] around the players is really good and his play style is something that I suit really well. I am going to contribute good to win trophies to the club with him."
As quoted by Chelsea's official website, on the signing of Sanchez, co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart said: "We’re very pleased to welcome Robert to Chelsea and he adds further quality to our goalkeeping unit.
"Robert has repeatedly proved himself in the Premier League and been capped by his country. We are excited to watch him work with Mauricio and his coaching team during the season ahead."

I understand Sanchez very well.. he did loose form for purpose knowing fully well that if he turns out to be spiderman at Brighton they will put price tag on his head hence preventing him from moving on. let caceido start scoring home goal n you will see the price drive down. that's how professionals force hands of club to sale then quickly as possible or loose them on cheap

Mendy was number one under Tuchel but became number two under Potter and Lampard..... does the decision of these two coaches mean Mendy is a bad gk
it's about standards. If Mendy had maintained his high performance standards, he wouldn't have been dropped. The same way with Sanchez, he wouldn't be third choice if he performed well

A third choice keeper at Brighton is bought to compete with Kepa? 🤷🏻♂️ What are we doing?? If you can’t buy a better one trust Kepa and give youngster’s chance to gain experience, anyhow we don’t have Europe. What’s the point of wasting money on Sanchez??

No sir. Number of trophies collected shows Man City is ahead in the last 15years, but Chelsea is ahead in the last 10years

Great signing 🙄🙄. Chelsea just bought Brightons third choice goalie to come and compete with their first choice goalie. Is the level getting that low???

Chelsea did not go on relegation when two worst Managers in the Europe (Graham Potter and Lampard) coached them, it is now that a B-class coach has arrived? Joke of the hour
