This week, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rolfes gave an interview to the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, discussing the difficulties Wirtz is currently facing at Liverpool and sharing his views.
Rolfes said: "While Wirtz possesses excellent individual ability, he is first and foremost a thoroughly team player. He excels at teamwork, but Liverpool hasn't fully gelled yet, which makes it more difficult for Wirtz to perform."
Wirtz's career at Liverpool has had a slow start – he has yet to score or assist in 11 Premier League appearances, and has been a mix of starters and substitutes – in recent weeks, Sloot has been using Wirtz as a left winger.
