Chelsea have sanctioned Romelu Lukaku's sale after signing off on a exit fee for the Belgian striker, bringing a permanent end to his second torrid spell at the club, according to reports.
Lukaku is already on-loan at the Serie A side after the Blues signed off on a season-long deal for the wantaway star who wasn't included in Mauricio Pochettino's plans.
He has starred for Jose Mourinho's side in recent matches, scoring five league goals in six league games, with three strikes coming in his last two outings, and Roma have been keen to get a permanent deal sorted for the end of the season.
Chelsea have named a fixed fee of £37m for the transfer that will go through at the end of the season and bring a close to Lukaku's career in English football, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
The parameters for the deal were set by Chelsea amid fears that Lukaku would return to the club at the end of the season with two-years still remaining on his existing contract.
Roma have recovered from a difficult start to the season, winning their last three games in all competitions, demonstrating an upturn in form largely led by Lukaku's goalscoring.
The 30-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge in a £98m transfer from Inter Milan two-years ago when it was expected he would help lead the club to future glories under then-manager Thomas Tuchel.
He had just enjoyed a terrific season at Inter where the Milan-based side won the Scudetto.
However, any joy first gained upon sealing his signature was short-lived as the Belgian failed to live up to expectations and was quickly relegated to the bench.
His end in London was all-but-signalled when he expressed his unhappiness in an interview that was viewed by Chelsea as being disrespectful.
Roma supporters have adored Lukaku since he completed his summer move to the Italian capital with thousands of fans arriving at the airport to give him a hero's welcome.
The initial £5m loan move deal will now be made permanent at the end of the season.

Luka is a great player but his playing style doesn't suit our team. He's a bad debt written off.
