Romero vows to give '200%' for Tottenham's seven Premier League 'finals'

Cristian Romero intends to give "200%" for Tottenham's remaining Premier League fixtures, describing those matches as "seven finals".

Spurs were beaten 3-0 by fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest on Sunday, a result that leaves them just a point above 18th-placed West Ham in the table.

They have not won any of their last 13 league matches (D5 L8), equalling the second longest winless run in their league history (also 13 in November 1912).

Tottenham have only had a longer run once before, going 16 without a victory between December 1934 and April 1935, putting Igor Tudor's future at risk after just five league games in charge.

And the Opta supercomputer has assigned Spurs a 26.5% chance of being relegated to the second tier, though their most likely end-of-season position is 17th (38.4%).

Romero played the duration of their defeat to Forest, which was just the third time that Tottenham have lost by three goals at home to a side starting the day in 17th or lower in the Premier League table, along with 0-3 defeats to West Ham in October 2013 and Sheffield Wednesday in August 1998.

"It's a difficult day for everyone, but the first thing is to speak about the fans. Thank you for today and always staying with us," Romero said.

"They gave us fantastic support, but about us, it was a bad day. Now it is finished, and the most important thing is to understand the situation.

"It's not easy, but the most important thing is to get to the national team and back here for the last seven finals.

"I promise [to] put 200 per cent into every one and, for me, it is not easy, but we have to stay all together. It's a bad day yeah, but we will go again."

Spurs have won just 30 points from 31 Premier League games this season – accounting for 3pts/win all-time, this is their joint-lowest return after 31 games of a league campaign, along with 1914-15 (30).

They also suffered their 10th top-flight home defeat in 2025-26. In fact, they have only won twice in front of their own supporters throughout the entire campaign, a joint-low in the division alongside 19th-placed Burnley.

But Spurs fans turned up in their thousands ahead of kick-off to welcome the team into the stadium, with more expected to turn out for their clash with Brighton on April 18.

"It's incredible and especially at this moment, after this season was no good. Honestly me, [I'm] the first to take responsibility, but to the fans, thank you," Romero added.

"Thank you every game, the support is brilliant, and it's only [now] about the players, the staff, and we need [to give] more, especially me at first, but in the last seven finals we will go again."
