Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has made it clear that he did not think much of Ilkay Gundogan’s blunt assessment of his red card against Paris Saint-Germain. After Barcelona went down to 10 men in their Champions League quarter-final, they went on to concede three goals in 30 minutes, with Gundogan furious about Araujo’s carelessness.
The German midfielder commented that the red card at that stage of the game ‘kills you’, while also explaining that Araujo should have known better than to bring down Bradley Barcola, even if it meant conceding a goal.
Asked about it, Araujo told Diario AS that he would be keeping his views to himself, although in the process not exactly calming matters.
“I prefer to keep what I think to myself. I have codes and values that must be respected.”
Speaking about El Clasico on Sunday, Araujo said they needed to reset mentally to face Real Madrid.
“We have a chance at revenge. Madrid is our biggest rival and we have to change our mentality. We will give everything on Sunday.”
Araujo was asked whether Gundogan lacked those codes and values.
“I’ve already responded to that question,” was the Uruguayan’s response.
In general terms, Araujo apologised to the fans for their elimination, and sent out a message of optimism for the fans.
“We are very sorry. Obviously, we are all sad, the children, the families. But this is football, there is always revenge. We are going to try again next season. I am convinced that this generation is going to win the Champions League.”

Araujo believe in himself too much he shouldn't forget that Gundo won the UCL just last year as a captain of Man city n he had more experience than him he needs except it what he did cost the 100%

I knew xavi season was going to end in tears the moment he allowed Fati to go on loan instead of ferran torres, I was not surprised with Madrid leading the domestic league, But in UCL I support Barca with my whole heart to make it to final or go further ahead of ATM to gain Club World Cup qualifications, but yet we ended badly, truly I wanted Xavi to succeed as a Barca coach because of the good memories he brought to us a player but after the humiliation in champions league i will console my self with the fact that Xavi will be leaving Barca and the board will no longer have interest in convincing him to stay.

In football u either win lose or draw..... if football was meant to be ran away then when Liverpool whooped us 7:0 then we would have left the team coz of the mock we went through and red card is part of the game.......it isn't a must you have to win every game example is Arsenal celebrating Liverpool lose to palace and at last they ended in a bad way than Liverpool

with the little football I played whilst growing up. Everybody is either on the field can either be a hero or a villain for the team. There were matches that a player can singlehandedly save the team or kill the team. For example in Euro 2000, in the final David Trezegue came on the field and scored a beautiful goal that gave France the European cup against Italy and became the hero . That same scenario played out again in FIFA World Cup 2006 final match between France and Italy. only that this time around the same David Trezague missed his crucial penalty and gave the world cup to Italy thereby becoming the villain. Iker Gundogan should mind his statements by keeping his thoughts to himself, because nobody is above mistake. it could be rancor in the dressing room of Barcelona.
