most of you don't really watch the guy and the mentioned players played. if you see zizo, Delima,Rivaldo, Ronaldinho played in any testimonial match you will see the natural skills from them. Not all about run and score goals. You can check there days a player cannot win 4ballon dor in a role because they are all skillful and not by goals but by accurate passings,vision,tactical ability,not about how many goals or hatricks you scored.. Award was given to players with technical abilities but now if u don't win trophies and add up incredible stat u wouldn't be considered. We had Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Kroos, Salah, Rooney etc who were also good. Now that CR7 and Messi are not in the equation, I think balon d'or will come back to it's normal state like the R9, Zidane era where technical abilities and individual brilliance were the only parameters for judging the best player. CR7 and Messi took football to the highest level

True but Ronaldo and Messi did the unimaginable they changed the sport from how it was recognized…no one in that generation would’ve thought of scoring 40+ league goals consistently…it was inhuman…new to the sport
