Ronaldo adds reasons to leave Man United: Substitute and disappointing defeat

Cristiano Ronaldo has already expressed his intention to leave Manchester United and, although the English side had hoped that he would change his mind, that looks ever less likely.

It does not seem that the Portuguese is thinking about staying at Old Trafford and, after the home defeat to Brighton on Sunday, there are more and more reasons for Cristiano to leave the Red Devils.

Although the reason for his departure is that he wants to play in the next Champions League, the fact that he was a substitute in the match against Brighton could further support his desire to leave. Erik ten Hag left him on the bench as his pre-season strop left him unready for the new season but the Portuguese could use that as fuel to spark an exit.

In addition, the defeat in front of their own fans did not help either. The performance of Ten Hag's team has been quite disappointing, far from what a team that aspires to win titles next season should be.

Was it a punishment from Ten Hag?

Cristiano's appearance on the bench could've been a punishment by Ten Hag. The Portuguese left Old Trafford during half-time of the friendly match against Rayo Vallecano, something that did not please the United coach at all.

"More players did that. I don't accept that. Absolutely not. That is unacceptable. I tell them this, that that is unacceptable. We are a team, we are a squad. You have to stay until the end," he said.
