Cristiano Ronaldo was pictured consoling Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga, after the Swedish teenager missed a penalty against Middlesbrough.
The Red Devils were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chris Wilder's side on penalties after Elanga's spot-kick miss gave Boro an 8-7 shootout victory, following a 1-1 draw in regulated time.
Looking dejected after his miss, Elanga was quickly swarmed on by United team-mates as well as Ronaldo, who seemed to offer the youngster some advice.
Ronaldo missed a spot-kick of his own earlier in the game when the score was 0-0, but smashed home his penalty in the shootout.
Elanga was the 16th taker after every single Man United and Middlesbrough player buried their penalty's in the back of the net.
The Swedish teen was Ralf Rangnick's eighth penalty taker, meaning it had come down to players who do not initially put themselves forward.
Ralf Rangnick and Bruno Fernandes were pictured consoling Elanga after the crucial moment and he will need the team to rally around him now.
The miss will come as a real blow to the 19-year-old, who has recently made a name for himself in the first-team with impressive performances in their Premier League games.
The Swede scored his first league goal in United's 3-1 away win against Brentford last month and has featured in every game since.

I seriously dont know why lotta people keep wasting their time watching Manutd games, let alone complaining about team or blaming the ref, VAR, poor pitch, the weather etc, each time they lose. The team is simply not good enough and lack that winning mentality, its that simple. yes Penalty is a game of chances but a club like ManU shouldn't be dragging game into shoot out with clubs like 'Boro in the first place. I can bet anything that, 2nd or 3rd team of Man city, liverpool and Chelsea would have whipped 'boro 3 to 5 nil comfortably, what ManUtd 1st team couldnt do. So please enough of the noise, that team is total trash and nothing good will come out of Manutd this season, absolutely NOTHING. for the record, I used to love watching ManU n did support them a lot, my interest started dwindling when Mourinho came aboard, n finally terminated during Ole's era. it wasn't only about the coaches and players, but the Manutd management. if you understand football n the politics that lie within, then you'll understand my point. its lotta shame and pain watching Manutd play these days, so I'll rather save myself the time n pain to do more important stuff during the games, albeit I'll see the highlight or read the news. Hope things return to those glory days at Manutd someday.
