Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to Instagram to claim 'hard work is the only pathway to victory' after Manchester United's humiliating 5-0 home loss to Liverpool.
The Red Devils found themselves 4-0 down to Liverpool at half-time on Sunday afternoon and went on to finish the game 5-0 after Mohamed Salah secured a hat-trick.
Ronaldo has since said that there are 'no shortcuts to glory' and that there would be no 'gain' without 'pain' as he hit the gym ahead of United's clash with Tottenham on Saturday.
The 34-year-old shared an Instagram post of himself working out in his home gym. He is seen dressed head-to-toe in Nike kit while using the leg press machine.
The Manchester United striker wrote the accompanying caption: 'Hard work is the only pathway to victory. There are no shortcuts to glory. No pain, no gain!'
The insight into his training regime came shortly after he took to social media to promise the 'amazing Manchester United fans' that he and his team-mates would start to deliver on the pitch.
He wrote the following caption after the Red Devil's disappointing defeat to Liverpool: 'Verified Sometimes the result is not the one we fight for. Sometimes the score is not the one we want.
'And this is on us, only on us, because there’s no one else to blame. Our fans were, once again, amazing in their constant support.
'They deserve better than this, much better, and it’s up to us to deliver. The time is now!'
Ronaldo is said to be the one 'holding the dressing room together' at Old Trafford following their 5-0 home thrashing by arch rivals Liverpool.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ronaldo is urging players 'to not down tools' and to maintain standards - despite some being irked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tactics and personnel choices.
Ronaldo - who knows Solskjaer well, having played alongside him during his first spell at the club - is eager for the team to support the boss heading into Saturday's fixture with Tottenham.
Manchester United's Premier League encounter with Tottenham could determine Solskjaer's future at the club.

I’m a CR7 fan and I want Messi to win the Ballon d’or, but every time AF posted article of ballon d’or Messi fans begin to mock CR7 and hatred talks even though he’s not mentioned in the article.
