Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to be out of action for at least a short spell after Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus said the forward's hamstring injury is worse than initially anticipated.

Al-Nassr confirmed earlier this week that Ronaldo had sustained a hamstring problem.

However, they did not confirm an expected timeframe for the 41-year-old to return to action.

Ahead of Al-Nassr, who sit top of the Saudi Pro League heading into Friday's fixtures, facing Neom this weekend, Jesus offered an update on Ronaldo's status.

"Cristiano's injury is more serious than we thought," said Jesus.

"He will now travel to Spain, like other players who went for treatment when they were injured.

"His injury required treatment in Madrid with his personal therapist, and we hope he returns quickly and helps the team."

Ronaldo has netted 21 times in 22 Pro League games this season, from chances with an expected goals (xG) total of 20.9.

His shot conversion rate is up to 17.3% this term, having sat at 16.8% last season, while he has hit the target with 52.2% of his attempts.

Ronaldo's next game in the competition will be his 100th in Saudi's top flight.
