Liam Rosenior bemoaned Chelsea's failure to stay composed after a "ridiculous" collapse saw Leeds United fight back for a stunning 2-2 draw.
Chelsea appeared to be cruising towards a fifth straight Premier League win at Stamford Bridge after Joao Pedro's first-half opener, before Cole Palmer doubled his side's lead with a penalty in the 58th minute.
However, Moises Caicedo's clumsy lunge on Jayden Bogle allowed Lukas Nmecha to reduce the deficit with his own spot-kick nine minutes later, and Daniel Farke's side seized the initiative from then on.
Bogle's bundling run caused chaos as Robert Sanchez failed to claim a loose ball and Noah Okafor converted into an empty net to level in the 73rd minute, leaving Rosenior frustrated.
"It's two key moments that we don't take care of, we don't stay calm," the Chelsea boss said in his post-match press conference.
"Moi [Caicedo] has been top, but he makes a poor decision. We give away a penalty. I genuinely can't remember Leeds having a shot or a moment in the game.
Okafor's simple leveller stood after a VAR check deemed Bogle had not committed a handball offence in the build-up, adding further annoyance for Rosenior.
"The penalty goes in, they hit a few long balls, pick up some second balls. The lad [Bogle] handballs it, and it affects my players," he added.
"We just have to make sure we take care of moments and be professional. The ridiculous thing for us is that they've managed to score two goals in a five-minute period, and for the rest of the game, we were the better team."
Rosenior claimed "there's a change in the things I like to see" with Chelsea making "progression already" in his view, but the draw saw them stay a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
Chelsea should still have claimed all three points despite Leeds' comeback, though, with Palmer somehow missing an open goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time after Caicedo's low delivery.
Palmer's miss alone was worth 0.87 expected goals (xG), such was the quality of a chance that Rosenior expected his star man to take.
"He's in the position, 999 times out of 1000, he scores; it was just that one in that moment," Rosenior continued. "We shouldn't be in that position.
"The game should be done at 2-0. I need to show the players certain things to make sure that doesn't happen again."
There were still some positives to take with Joao Pedro scoring his sixth goal in his last eight matches in all competitions for Chelsea.
The Brazilian has also scored more goals than any other Blues player across the 10 games managed by Rosenior, who hailed the former Brighton forward after he netted his 10th league strike this campaign.
"He's a top player, he always has been," he said. "I know how hard the club worked to bring him to the club because he has that potential and he is showing that.
"Joao suits the way I want to play down to the ground. He's showing an energy, intensity and quality that is at a really high level."
