Roy Keane dismantles 'very average' Man United, accusing them of being SOFT

Roy Keane took Manchester United apart after their 3-0 beatdown against Manchester City, accusing them of showing no signs that things are going to get better under Ruben Amorim.

United were blown away in the second half at the Etihad Stadium with Erling Haaland scoring twice to add to Phil Foden's first half header.

That result means United have won just one of their opening four league games, losing to both Arsenal and City, as well as drawing away to Fulham.

Keane targeted specific criticism for Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes but much of his annoyance went for the entire team on a miserable day in Manchester.

'Not one yellow card!' Keane moaned on Sky Sports. 'The Manchester derby, it's raining and set up for a few tackles.

'United walk off the pitch! I am sick of repeating myself. It's a derby game. You shouldn't be able to get out of bed for a week, not one yellow card! Try tackling. Try hitting somebody. Football is a physical game.'

Amorim said last season after they had the worst top flight season on record that new signings and a pre-season would lead to improvement.

But with just one win - courtesy of a stoppage penalty at home to newly-promoted Burnley - and an embarrassing Carabao Cup exit to League Two Grimsby Town, the pressure is well and truly on the Portuguese manager.

Keane's rant continued: 'They got beaten by Grimsby as well.

'For all the money Man Utd have spent, and they have had a new manager coming in who needs time to settle in, needs a pre-season, needs his own players - they are just a very average team in this Premier League.

'There are no signs that things are getting better for them.

'This United team lack that real quality. They struggle defensively. There are obviously issues.

'You talk about the system but the manager is sticking to his guns he is not budging.

'You look at the results and the points per game, goals for and against. It is not good reading. It does concern me.

'As soon as the game starts you are worried but you get that feeling against any decent team. They have scored four goals and two of them were penalties. So they are not a free-scoring team. It is almost the same problems as last year.'

Shaw was the one who really angered Keane on Sunday given he was culpable for all three City goals to varying degrees.

The first goal saw Shaw skipped by on the edge of the box to allow Jeremy Doku to get in before crossing to an unmarked Foden to make it 1-0.

'Shaw is an international footballer, so for him to get caught out like that...' Keane said.

'I think he has been getting away with murder for years at United. Always injured and never quite fit.

'We make excuses and then he gets a few games under his belt and he's making decisions like he doesn't even want to tackle anyone.'
