Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has hinted that someone within Marcus Rashford's camp spawned the idea to go public with his desire to leave the club.
Rashford, 27, recently revealed that he's 'ready for a new challenge' away from Old Trafford. His comments came after being left out of United's squad for their clash with rivals Manchester City and Amorim hasn't recalled him for the two games since.
The Red Devils boss has left the door open for Rashford to play again before the January transfer window, with United due to face Wolves and Newcastle before the end of the year. In a fresh discussion with Sky Sports, Amorim has suggested that a person within Rashford's entourage told the forward to make last week's bombshell statement which shocked his team-mates at Old Trafford.
"Of course it is a hard situation," Amorim began. "But I understand that this kind of player, they have a lot of people around them making some choices that are sometimes not the first idea from the player. So I understand, I can separate things. I am always here for helping Marcus as another player. And they have to do what they have to do.
"I say they chose to do that interview, because it's not just Marcus, and I understand that. As a coach I am just focussed on the performance, the way he trains. And the rest, I think it is better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes.
"At the moment I am just focussed on improving Marcus. We need a lot in this moment the talented guys like Marcus and I forget for now the interview. I just see what I see on the pitch."
United have lost their last two matches without Rashford, whose last appearance came in the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen earlier this month. The Red Devils reportedly put the 27-year-old up for sale before his comments, with new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to drum up funds.
Rashford's sale could greatly benefit United in their fight to avoid financial fair play sanctions. Due to him being a product of the club's famous academy, any fee received from another team would be classed a 'pure profit'. Having signed a new deal last year worth a reported £325,000-a-week, Rashford is under contract with his boyhood club until 2028.

so you're trying to say there's a crime in someone saying he want to leave, is there any bad comment there No, before Rashford will come out to say it publicly he might have told the coach personally and the coach might not be giving him listen ears and continues benching him
Bro the coach said Rashford never approached him about leaving. You can believe whatever you want man

Amorim, you are a good manager and that's what is needed to take man utd to the promise land. My advise is be diplomatic with the media when it comes to players discipline or reasons for exclusion from match day squad. I was sad when you went to press giving reason for excluding garnacho and rashford . You honestly failed by saying it as it is. The backlash is what rashford has stupidly gone to the press as well and is seeking for a new challenge elsewhere.

First of all, you have to realize that you are speaking from a place of limited information, just like the rest of us. Secondly, Rashford has had a track record of indiscipline before even Amorim arrived. Thirdly, Rashford is not the first player in the history of football to be benched. Sensible players when benched, especially under a new coach, will return with a zeal to work hard and prove their coaches wrong. But what does Rashford do? That diva decides to conduct an interview saying he wants to leave!! He claims to love United but that's not how someone who loves his club behaves. In case you didn't know, go look for Solskjaer's interview long after he was sacked by United. He said the exact same thing Amorim said. He said he felt some United players were greatly influenced by their agents and family. He also said some players were not as good as they thought they were, that because of their fame they thought they were excellent footballers which was not the case. Mind you that was Solskjaer's opinion, long before Amorim was appointed coach. If you watch United's games, you can see that Rashford clearly has run out of energy at United. It's affecting his input. Whatever the reasons are behind the scenes, I guess we'll never know.

Why this coach keep bitching around? You dropped the guy and boasted about it. At least keep his name out of your mouth.

Rashford did the interview himself. Nobody else did it for him.

Rushford is human too , I don’t see any problem with saying one wants to leave . Rushford didn’t bench himself the couch did after realising rushford wasn’t in his plan . Managers destroy players and easily get away with it

One thing about Manchester united coaches, they start disliking a certain player, until the player has left. Eric Teg hag-Sancho and Martial, Amori-Rashford and Garnacho

I don't think Ruben Amorim is a good coach for sure he like Bruno too much but that guy is wasting more chances
Despite all Bruno is the only play maker Man u have in the midfield there's no 1 to replace him at the moment.

so for you you'd stick to the same players and love them all even without their performance . lol

It’s like throwing your last pfd into the sea when the boat is sinking . United need goal getters not players who will spend 90 minutes running like mad men . They need to run with both control and skill
