Ruben Amorim revealed the strange thing Man United supporters tell him when they meet him, as he admitted he struggles to understand why they say it.
Since the Red Devils swapped Erik ten Hag for Amorim back in November, they have dropped from 13th to 15th place in the Premier League table.
United have also bowed out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup - two trophies Ten Hag was able to bring to Old Trafford during his time in Manchester.
The 20-time English top-flight champions are set to blow almost every Premier League 'worst' in club history out of the water this season.
In Ten Hag's final full season at United, his side logged their lowest finish in the rebranded top-flight (eighth), but that record is set to be broken one year later by Amorim.
Yet, in spite of his dreadful start on paper, Amorim revealed that United fans are quick to show their support towards him when they bump into him in public.
The Portuguese boss told TNT Sports: 'They [fans] say one thing that is really strange for me. That is: "You are doing a good job."
'It is so hard to understand sometimes. When I listen to them, It's really important for me.'
In his first 25 games, Amorim has managed the following record: 11 wins, five draws and nine defeats – a win rate of 44 per cent.
Going into Sunday's fixture against Arsenal, Amorim's win rate in the Premier League is just 31 per cent - the worst of any manager in club history.
United have also accrued a negative goal difference since the 40-year-old joined, having scored 38 and conceded a staggering 39 goals in all competitions.
Ahead of United's 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday, Amorim insisted that nothing can save his side's historically poor season.
The Red Devils have won just three of their last 12 games, and remain in two competitions - the Europa League and Premier League.
Their chances of competing in the Champions League next season are incrediibly slim, as they languish in the bottom half of the league and way off the top four.
Meanwhile, they need to go all the way in Europa League if they wish to qualify for Europe's most prestigious competition through the alternative route.
But even if they pull off this feat, Amorim admitted that the season would still be a failure by United's standards.
'People look at this competition [the Europa League] as the only competition that can save our season. I don't see it like that. Nothing can save our season,' he said.
'In this club, you have to perform in every competition. I understand that it's really important that we want to win and go to the next stage.
'The season has been really tough in our position in the league. That's what I mean.
'I don't look at things to save something. I just want to be better as a coach and for my team to perform better.'

So it's all Rubin's fault coming from most of you here. How many managers have come n go? All those managers are at fault? None goes to the players who earn big fat pay checks with attitude n acting like prima donnas. So what if Rubin goes n a new manager of your choice is brought in n failed half way thru next season? Sack him also n being another? I think Rubin is smart in that he's giving everyone that he inherited a chance to show their own capabilities coz he will want to retain those who can fit into his system. He will rid those who did not perform only after giving them a chance coz obviously he didn't want to rid players who can perform in this system but not under other managers. Mind you, this is not his team that he inherited. Those who left n perform else where should be asking themselves why they can't perform at United? Bcoz Old Trafford is a Theatre of Dreams. A player must not be excellent but SPECIAL. To be babes or fledglings, a player needs to be SPECIAL. If he's talented but not SPECIAL, he won't succeed. Look at Anderson, established a a star to be but with attitude. Cleverly n Eagles, talented but not SPECIAL, to name a few. But if he's ordinary n yet with good attitude n work ethics, he'll be that SPECIAL player. Look at Neville n Evra. To succeed as a UNITED player, it comes in a package. When you wear THAT RED jersey with THAT BADGE, you are MANCHESTER UNITED, not just a player, coz MANCHESTER UNITED is followed worldwide.
