Wrexham AFC owner Ryan Reynolds announced Monday that his team will be playing in America for the first time ever and will do so against Manchester United this summer.

Reynolds, 46, owns the third oldest club in the sport's history. He and Rob McElhenney are equal partners since purchasing the team in 2021.

"We're looking forward to being able to play in the United States for the first time in the Club's history," the club tweeted. "The match against Manchester United is sure to be a memorable occasion at the Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego."

Reynolds believes Wrexham AFC, a fifth-tier team, will play alongside the Red Devils in the Premier League in about a decade.

On July 25, Wrexham will have its first chance to prove they can achieve big things, taking on United at Snapdragon Stadium, formerly known as Qualcomm Stadium.

Wrexham leads the league

Wrexham is currently in first place of the National League, only a few points above second place Notts County FC.

Reynolds and wife Blake Lively were present at Saturday's game, a victory over York City.

The 3-0 victory gives Wrexham an impressive 100 goals in the tournament with only 35 allowed, a club record.

Reynolds is now being compared to Ted Lasso, albeit the Canadian version, due to his presence leading to a quick turnaround for the historic club.
