Senegal captain Sadio Mané has issued a strongly worded statement condemning the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) recent decision, describing it as a damaging moment for the integrity of the game on the continent.
Reacting to the ruling, Mané did not hold back in his criticism, expressing deep frustration over what he perceives as systemic issues affecting African football.
“What happened has gone too far. This is not the football we fight for, not the Africa we believe in,” the forward stated.
The former African Player of the Year went further, alleging that corruption is undermining the sport and eroding the passion of supporters across the continent.
“There is too much corruption in our game, and it’s killing the passion of millions of fans across the continent. Players give everything on the pitch, but decisions off it are deciding matches and trophies,” he added.
Mané’s remarks come in the aftermath of CAF’s controversial ruling, which has already sparked widespread debate within football circles. His intervention is likely to amplify scrutiny on the governing body and its disciplinary processes.
“I’m deeply disappointed not just for Senegal, but for African football as a whole. We deserve better. The fans deserve fairness, transparency, and respect,” he concluded.
The statement from one of Africa’s most influential football figures is expected to resonate strongly among players, supporters, and stakeholders, potentially intensifying calls for greater accountability and reform within CAF.

what a shame ! Out come of AFCON finals now to be decided on tables of officials of CAF even months after the final whistle.Africa will always set bad precedence, No need for the tournament as it has lost its glamour, since titles are now won on CAF tables and not on the field of play. We now know it is a cash and carry trophy. CAF , go bury head in shame for dragging the name of Africa in the mud.

the game was resumed & a penalty was awarded so that rule won't apply
Exactly My Brother. As long as that game was resumed and the penalty still played, this rule doesn't apply at all

Why didn't the referee enact this law? Why were they allowed to finish the game? This your biasness holds no water as long they were allowed to complete the game. For instance, if a referee makes a wrong penalty call during a game, can the match be overturned after the game through committee???
