WILLIAM SALIBA NEEDED AN INJECTION TO PLAY AGAINST MANCHESTER CITY
Whilst William Saliba (22) featured in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, he won’t be joining his France teammates at Clariefontaine.
Saliba was called up by Didier Deschamps, but it was announced in the wake of Arsenal’s win that he had withdrawn from the squad for the fixtures against the Netherlands and Scotland. In an official press release, France announced that Saliba would remain with his club over the international break in order to undergo treatment for a toe injury. OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo was called up to replace him.
Saber Desfarges has now revealed that Saliba played through Arsenal’s win over Manchester City with an injection, which allowed him to play through the pain. Saliba was one of Arsenal’s key performers, winning all of his duels and committing no fouls. He was also not dribbled past on any occasion and had a passing accuracy of 97%. That performance is even more impressive within the context of his toe injury.
William Saliba against Manchester City:
100% duels won
76 touches
97% pass accuracy
5 ball recoveries
0 fouls committed
0 hours dribbled past

The defender that is humble, voiceless, seeks no attention. His action speaks for himself. One of the best world defenders at the moment, even Pep knows that.
