Alexis Sanchez was the notable omission from the Manchester United squad to take on West Ham.
Paul Pogba, as expected, does start following his spat with boss Mourinho earlier this week while Anthony Martial keeps his place.
But it was the absence of Sanchez that had United fans talking ahead of the Saturday lunchtime kick-off at the London Stadium.
And it appears his absence is a tactical decision - rather than a problem with injury.
Explaining his decision, Mourinho said he "had options" before insisting he picked the best team to win the game.
Sanchez has struggled for form since his high-profile arrival from Arsenal in January.
He was an unused substitute for the penalty shootout defeat to Derby in midweek.

Jose Mourinho's post match interview is one of the most insulting ones I've ever heard. •He comes and summarizes the game for Utd fans. • Can't tell them anything tactical • Blames Martial performance on pressure from the outside to drop Sanchez Kw3 but this guy paa😂😂
