FORGOTTEN Chelsea star Malang Sarr has joined RC Lens in a free transfer following the termination of his Blues contract.

The 25-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in August 2020 but was limited to just eight Premier League appearances across four years.

Sarr spent his first season on loan at Porto before returning to London.

He then played 21 times across all competitions for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, but was loaned out again to Monaco shortly before Graham Potter took over.

The centre-back failed to break back into the first team squad when Mauricio Pochettino arrived last summer and was subsequently sent to train with the Under-21s.

Sarr failed to make a single appearance last season.

The Blues decided to terminate his contract earlier this month as a result.

Sarr has now officially joined Ligue 1 side Lens as he looks to revive his career.

The defender picked up £20.8million in wages from his spell at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea could also cut ties with some first team players this summer.

Trevoh Chalobah was left out of Enzo Maresca's squad for the club's USA pre-season tour last week.

Blues chiefs are reportedly looking to offload him before the transfer window shuts.

Conor Gallagher could also leave despite his fan-favourite status.

Tottenham and Aston Villa have both been linked with him recently.

Atletico Madrid have also expressed an interest, with the midfielder seeking advice from England team-mate Kieran Trippier at Euro 2024.
