The former Napoli boss is unbeaten in his first 11 top-flight matches since replacing Antonio Conte as manager at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has equalled a Premier League record after going unbeaten in his first 11 top-flight matches in charge of the club.
Alvaro Morata scored twice with fellow Spaniard Pedro also on target as Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to move ahead of Liverpool on goal difference into second place.
The result maintained Sarri’s impressive start to life in west London since moving from Napoli to succeed fellow Italian Antonio Conte in July.
The 59-year-old is now unbeaten in his first 11 Premier League games as Chelsea head coach – equalling the record set by Nottingham Forest boss Frank Clark between August and October 1994.
Forest would go on and finish third that season, which remains the highest finish by a newly-promoted side in Premier League history.
Sarri has yet to taste defeat in any competition, bar a 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley in August.
The London club beat Frank Lampard’s Derby County 3-2 in midweek to set up a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth having already overcome Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the competition.
Sarri can move ahead of Clark if he can avoid defeat against Everton in their next Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
It is also the first time in 30 years that three teams in England's top division have remained unbeaten after 11 rounds of fixtures.
Last season's runaway champions Manchester City thumped Southampton 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to move two points clear at the top of table.
The result meant Pep Guardiola’s side took full advantage of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, with the Reds dropping to third behind Chelsea following their win over the Eagles.
Chelsea will now turn their attentions to the Europa League and a trip to Belarus to play BATE Borisov on Thursday.
Sarri’s side hold a six-point lead in Group L after winning all three of their matches so far and can secure their place in the knock-out stages with a fourth victory on Thursday.

I love Sarri play style and what he has been able to achieve so far since assuming his role as head coach of chelsea, but let’s not in a hurry forget the magical conte who inspired Chelsea to a first place position in the EPL in his first season with few/no Additional purchases. He also had 13 straight Wins. Chelsea supporters, let’s for once think as human and give credit to those whom have paid their Dues Thank you Conte for Winning two important Medals in the 2 seasons you stayed at Chelsea. We can’t forget you thrashing man city 3:1 and man united 4:0 The 2016/17 Epl Title and 2017/18 FA cup is ours for the records. Wish you every good thing that the coaching career can offer

Sarri already beat the record for most unbeaten games with Chelsea and now even in the premier league. What a guy, was definitely the best manager for the job. The players look like something else under him. He turned us into a force in Europe. Now our club can get back the respect it lost last season...
